Club Notes, April 2, 2009

Thursday, it's metal night at Ralph's with Fires of Old and more; Michael Nappi sings at Allgos; Duncan Arsenault's teaming up with Jon Short at The Dive; Jimmy Eat World puts on a concert at Fitchburg State College; and Atomic Stereo opens for Flock of A-Holes at The Lucky Dog.

On Friday, Golden Spurs and Prying Eyes open for the Delta Generators at Tammany Hall; The Continental presents Thinner, The Curtain Society, Huck, Hey Now Morris Fader (pictured) and The Bee's Knees in what will prove to be an extravaganza at The Lucky Dog (this one's because Barry Dennis is back in town); Rose Colored Glasses rocks the Cannery with Stillburnin' in Southbridge; Dave Magario's at The Q with Matt Fox; The Devil Wears Prada joins A Day to Remember at The Palladium; Tom Boudreau sings at Spirits Lounge; Ed, Dave and T are back jamming at Greendale's; Bret Talbert rocks Creegan's; The Campaign for Real Time returns to Ralph's with The Wandas; The Sworn In headlines; Stomping Melvin rocks the Irish Times; Last Call does covers at Trumbull's in Spencer; Bruce Marshall's got his whole band at The Bull Run in Shirley; Toni Lynn Washington belts out the blues at Gilrein's; and Jason James plays the guitar at Vincent's.


Saturday, The Uncomfortables help open for Seatttle's Villians and Victims at The Lucky Dog, along with a Tool and Black Sabbath tribute; Dan Burke sings with the Orange Ocean at The Dive; Sean Fullerton sings at the Whistle Stop; in the afternoon, The Black Raspberries have a CD release show at St. Michael's Church; the Battle of the Bands explodes in the afternoon at Tammany Hall; the wonderfully creative Pandas headline Ralph's; Devoid rocks The Raven; the oldies TV phenom Sha Na Na has got a stage show, and it's at the Hanover Theatre; Stuart Ferguson plays acoustic folk rock at the Grafton Inn; Devoid and Seven Minute Stagger share the bill at The Raven; The New Deal's upstairs at The Palladium; Jon Short does the oldtime blues at Nick's; Clamdigger's in the sand at the Galway Bay; The Rollin' Pins slide into Vincent's; Barefoot Bob and the Monkeyfish is playing Squire White's; Sugar Ray's got his Blue Tones at Gilrein's; Jubilee Gardens mixes world music, folk, pop and whatever else comes out of Jubilee Connolly's brain, at the Sahara; Lisa Marie's All Shook Up at The Nines; and the Jagfest takes over The Artist Development Complex starting in the afternoon and continuing throughout the evening, featuring Skulltoboggan, Social Suicide, Anger Rising and Mindset X (and we'll be talking with Adam from Mindset next week).

Other events:
An otherworldly view, collected during 40 years of robotic space missions and then processed into breathtaking images is the subject of Beyond: Visions of Legendary Landscape, on display at the Worcester Art Museum through Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, “This is My Song,” which is a cabaret, is happening at Pakachoag Music School in Auburn as their fundraiser. The very funny, and clever, Joe Fusco Jr. is performing at the Green Rooster Coffeehouse along with musical guests.
